Emergency garage door repair Largo callers need rarely comes at a good hour. The door sticks open after dark. A car is shut in before an early shift. A storm knocks out the power and the door will not budge.
We answer 24/7, help you make the door safe and agree on a price by phone. We cover the city and the rest of our Largo service area, nights and weekends included. Our main emergency garage door repair page covers night calls in general. This one is about Largo.
Which Largo door troubles are worth a call after dark?
Call right away if your home is open to the street and the door will not shut. Call if a car is trapped and you need it soon. Call if the door hangs crooked or a cable dangles. A door in that state can drop with no warning.
Some problems are safe to leave for daylight. A noisy or slow door is a nuisance, not a hazard. So is a dead remote, so try new batteries first. We would rather say so on the phone than send someone out at midnight.
A door that has jumped its track is more serious. Rollers out of the track can let a panel fold or fall. Our guide to a garage door off its track explains why you should not force it back.

Why did Milton turn into a nighttime emergency in Largo?
Milton reached Largo after dark. The storm came ashore at Siesta Key at about 8:30 p.m. on October 9, 2024. A Largo fire station gauge logged its top gust at about 10:20 p.m. That gust was 57 knots, about 66 miles per hour, per the National Hurricane Center.
Rain was an even bigger problem. The same report lists 16.88 inches at a gauge on McKay Creek in Largo. Rain like that floods driveways and finds its way into garages.
A storm like that is the worst setting for a door problem. It is dark, it is wet and the power is often out. Water can run under a worn bottom seal and pool on the floor. Wind can bend a panel or push a roller out of its track.
If water got into your garage, do not run the opener yet. Wait until the outlet and the motor are dry and checked. In the weeks after, look for rust on the lower brackets and the cables.
How do you get a shut Largo door open when the power is out?
Most openers stop working when the power fails, unless they have a battery backup. The door itself is usually fine, but the motor cannot move it. A long outage is when people reach for the red release cord.
Outages after a big storm can last for days. After Milton, Duke Energy said most of its remaining Pinellas customers should have power by October 15. That was almost a week after landfall.
The cord is safe on a closed door with good springs. Chamberlain advises using the release with the door fully closed, if possible. Our guide on opening a garage door by hand walks through each step.
Start the lift slowly. If the door feels very heavy, stop and lower it with care. A heavy door usually means a broken spring, so call us before you try again. When the power returns, reconnect the opener before you press the remote.

Does a Largo evacuation order change what you do about a stuck door?
Yes. Leave when officials tell you to, and let the door wait. Pinellas County sets its evacuation zones by storm surge risk. You can look up your zone by address before the season starts.
The county also says people in mobile and manufactured homes must always evacuate, because of the wind. That rule holds no matter which zone you are in.
Before you go, bolt the door that leads from the garage into the house. Carry bikes and tools inside, or cover them. If water could reach the garage, pull the opener plug. Never wedge boards or rope against the door to hold it.
Call us before you leave if the door will not close. Once it is safe to come back, getting the door shut and secure comes first.

What does emergency garage door repair cost in Largo?
A spring or a cable costs about the same at 2 a.m. as at noon. What shifts is the cost of the trip after hours. You hear the total by phone before we head your way. Then you decide whether it is worth a night visit.
